BEAT
Hello!
My name is Salah and I am a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, AFFA Certified Group Exercise Teacher (Spin classes and Bootcamp are my specialty, but I also do a lot of yoga and pilates as well), and a BA in Health Promotion from the University of North Texas, and CrossFit Level 1 (CF-L1) Certified Trainer.
I just recently started coaching CrossFit at Woodward CrossFit here in Austin, and am about to open up my own training business called BYB Training! I’m so excited to start doing private volleyball lessons in the sand, offering group training, 1:1 training, and summer strength and conditioning programs for Middle School and High School students and athletes!
My entire life I have always been an athlete playing Volleyball (collegiately Division 1), Beach Volleyball (aspiring Professional), basketball, track and field. It wasn’t until I started doing CrossFit that I began to understand athleticism and being “Fit” is much more than being able to jump and hit a ball. My first workout was a pullup, push up, and squat workout and I got KILLED! Let’s just say it was an extremely humbling experience. That “wake-up” call was exactly what I needed and I immediately got hooked.
As I continued to go to CrossFit classes it didn’t matter what time I went, or what box I went to every coach and athlete was so welcoming and supportive. CrossFit is so much more than a Constantly Varied, High Intensity functional movement workout, but its a community, and a very supportive and encouraging community. Every day I step into the gym to coach or workout there is an athlete there or a fellow coach that inspires me to work hard and push myself. That motivation that is drawn isn’t from just being competitive and an athlete, its drawn from knowing that I have the support of my fellow CrossFitters backing me up and cheering me on regardless how long I’ve known them!
What is BEAT?
BEAT is a website that provides readers with nutrition advice, awesome workouts to try out whenever and wherever you are, motivational topics, and lots of variety to add to workouts to keep from getting bored, and just everyday thoughts that I feel like posting
.
Why BEAT?
Fitness has played such a key role in my life not only in keeping me looking good but also in helping me cope with any issues I may be dealing with in my life whether it be stress, sadness, anger, boredom, or just trying to prove to myself that I can do something that never thought I could do. In order to constantly improve ourselves, and the people we are able to reach out to and inspire, WE must BEAT a lot of issues, which vary for each individual!
I believe that EVERYONE is an athlete and can do whatever it is they set their minds to. However, not everyone believes that. Being able to beat our own mental barriers is the key to being successful at EVERYTHING in life whether it be fitness, nutrition, achieving goals, or just being the best we can be.
It is so important for us all to strive to BEAT YOUR BEST as well as to BE AT YOUR BEST. If we are always reaching for the stars then we’ll get the stars. This is my firm belief.
COMMITTED to FITNESS
To be committed to fitness and a healthy life means to be committed not just to your workouts but to be committed to your nutrition and mental health as well. Ideally it would be easy to find that perfect balance, but nothing worth our time and energy in life will ever be “easy” it will always be WORTH it!
